New Business:
Patricia, the club treasurer, reported that the club had $2133.79 in the checking account which will drop after the holiday party expenses have been paid.
There was a discussion regarding the Tuesday meetings/gatherings which occur prior to holidays. As a result, the following Tuesday meetings have been cancelled: November 23rd, December 21st, and December 28th.
Phil suggested that we explore sponsoring a retreat similar to the recent retreat sponsored by the Tannehill Carving Club's retreat at Camp McDowell, AL. The Tannehill club's retreat was three nights and four days with the first and the last days as travel days. Food and lodging was provided by Camp McDowell at a cost of $75/per person for lodging (double occupancy) and $8 for each meal consumed. Phil will research venues in our area and report back to the club in January 2022.
Rich made a motion that we pay members who teach a formal class for the club an honorarium of $100 for teaching the class. Rich amended his motion to say that participants should pay $10 each to show interest plus the cost of supplies. The motion passed.
Jon made a motion that we make the above honorarium be retro-active to Gene's eye study stick class. The motion passed.
Show & Tell
Three members had carvings to show at the meeting. First, Jon had a couple of Nautilus scrollsaw shells as well as scrollsaw Christmas ornaments.
Ernest had a very detailed relief carving entitled "Phoenix Captured" mounted on mirror and framed. He also had two decorative spoons.
Rich displayed a woodburning that he created in a class with Michele Parsons.
